Careers | Culture
Trust. Work. Joy.
At RYAN+LAMB, we have built an architectural practice shaped by trust, responsibility and good work. We believe people do their best work when they are trusted, involved in decisions and part of a team that takes both the work and each other seriously.
The three core principles that define how we work at RYAN+LAMB Architects. This shapes our culture, guides our projects and influences how we collaborate every day.
Trust
People here are trusted to do the job. That means being involved, taking responsibility and being relied on, not simply being directed. We keep hierarchy light and expect people to contribute directly when they can. Trust also needs to be reflected in how people are treated, which is why full maternity pay is part of how we support our team.
Work
The work matters. We take architecture seriously: the buildings, the decisions behind them and the responsibility we hold to clients. Everyone contributes to the thinking as well as the delivery. We do not separate ideas from production. If you are involved in a project, you are expected to engage properly with it and help shape the outcome.
Joy
Architecture is demanding work, but it should bring joy too. We have built a team people want to be part of. A strong gender mix, a sense of balance and a genuine ease in how people work together all contribute to a better working environment and, in turn, better design output.

Benefits
Maternity Leave
We want this to be a place where people build careers, not pass through. To achieve that, the structure must support real life, not just the work. We provide full maternity pay for people who have served a certain amount of time with the company as part of our goal to help build long careers in the practice.
Pension - MyFutureFund
Starting 1 January 2026, RYAN+LAMB will offer auto-enrollment via MyFutureFund. Employees aged 23–60 earning over €20,000 who are not already in a pension scheme will be automatically enrolled. Contributions start at 1.5% from employees, matched by employers, plus a 0.5% State top-up, phasing up to 6% each over 10 years.
Professional Development
Employees have access to learning and development tools for continuous growth. Benefits like conferences, online courses and professional certificates are available annually. We see this as an investment in you, building your confidence and enhancing the performance of our team overall.
Early Careers - TDU Placements
Every year for the last 10 years, we have worked with TU Dublin Architectural Technology to provide a work placement for undergraduate Architectural Technologists. The undergraduates are welcomed and fully integrated into our team. They work on live projects instead of simply completing individual tasks. We see technologists as designers, so they’re expected to engage, think and contribute from the outset. We show them how the job actually works and what good looks like, and from there it’s up to them to step into it. They all leave with more knowledge than they arrived with and we benefit from their input too. We’ve consistently found their real ability and different ways of thinking to be a valuable addition to our practice.
What people are saying
“RYAN+LAMB have been valued partners in the Professional Practice Placement module on TU Dublin's TU831 BSc (Hons) in Architectural Technology for the past decade. Students placed there are given genuine responsibility on live projects, with exposure across all stages of design and delivery.
The practice clearly invests in students as future professionals, and the feedback we receive year on year reflects that. Students consistently highlight the depth of learning and the quality of mentorship they experience. We are grateful for their continued commitment to the next generation of Architectural Technologists.”
Dr Malachy Mathews
FCIAT Placement Coordinator“I first joined RYAN+LAMB Architects in 2019 after completing my undergraduate degree in Queen’s University Belfast. Because of Covid I stayed for 2 years rather than 1. In 2021, I returned to university to study my Masters at the School of Architecture in University College Dublin. After graduating in September 2023, I was delighted to rejoin the team. I am now working from the Edinburgh office and am back for monthly site visits and a catch up with the team in person. I work mostly on Residential, Sports and Education projects”
Anne Cook

I enjoy looking for new challenges and focusing on learning and improving my technical and design skills. I’m a dynamic, enthusiastic professional with a strong work ethic and team spirit.
I’m proud to be part of RYAN+LAMB Architects, especially because of the culture of trust and openness. RYAN+LAMB doesn't just see us as employees; they truly care about us as people. Between the support for our career growth and the focus on our well-being, it really does feel like a second family.”

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Not always. We consider candidates at different stages of their careers, from early-career professionals to more experienced team members. What matters most is your ability to contribute, your attitude to the work and your willingness to learn.

Architecture can be demanding, but we believe it should be sustainable. We aim to maintain a balanced working environment where people can do serious work without unnecessary pressure. We proactively review work allocation weekly as a team. We also protect our team’s downtime through clear communication boundaries. We encourage real breaks in the working day. To ensure people actually take their annual leave, we use a coverage model where colleagues are designated to handle urgent matters so that the person on holidays can fully unplug without returning to a mountain of stress. Although we work mainly in the studio, we encourage the entire team to work from home on a Friday to reduce their commute and ease into the weekend.

Working here involves being actively engaged in both design thinking and project delivery. There is an expectation that everyone contributes, regardless of level. The environment is collaborative, with a strong emphasis on responsibility, trust and producing high-quality work.
Our projects include aviation environments, multi-residential developments, private houses and commercial fit-out and interiors. Team members often gain experience across multiple sectors depending on project needs.
We’re also friendly and welcoming with an active social committee.
