Balancing Community Needs with Technical Constraints: The Skerries RFC
Delivering a high-performance sports facility is as much about managing the "invisible" challenges as it is about the final aesthetics. In our work with Skerries Rugby Club, we transformed 8,000sq.m. into a multi-code, all-weather pitch.
The project was a masterclass in overcoming site-specific constraints, from the precarious sandy substrate and low floodplain to the social responsibility of mitigating light and noise pollution for nearby residents.
Great design shouldn't just serve the athletes; it should respect the community. Super to see this facility continue to serve as a vital piece of infrastructure for rugby, soccer and GAA enthusiasts alike.
From the drawing board to the final whistle!
Throwing it back to our 8,000sq.m. all-weather pitch project for Skerries Rugby Club. While it looks sleek on the surface, this project was all about solving the tough stuff underneath...
Navigating sandy soil and a low floodplain to keep the floodlights standing tall.
Designed to manage light pollution and noise levels, keeping players and the local community happy.
Built for rugby, but ready for soccer and GAA too!
We love seeing this space being used year-round, no matter what the Irish weather throws at it.
